Recovery Time and a Versatile Blogger Award

I have disappeared recently from the blogging world due to illness and the ending of a difficult trimester at Oriental medical school. I flew home from Seattle to Chicago on Saturday the 20th with a wicked fever and no access to any medicine other than my needles, and apparently airlines frown upon you needling yourself on their planes (thankfully, a lesson learned vicariously through a former teacher).

And now that i am back, i am somewhat surprised to see that i have been nominated for a Versatile Blogger Award by Sreejit Poole, to whom i extend many thanks.

The surprise comes from actually being nominated by someone as talented as Sreejit. His writing is observably contemplative; not something i would say lightly. There is a depth to Sreejit’s poetry that i respect and can only hope to emulate.

The lack of surprise is that when i first saw, “Versatile Blogger Award,” my immediate experience of it was, “Inability to Get Your Shit Together Award.” (more on this below in #1)

So here are the rules:

1) Add The Versatile Blogger award photo on a blog post

2) Thank the person (or animal) who presented you with the award and link back to him or her in your post

3) Share seven things about yourself

4) Pass the award along to 15 favorite bloggers. Contact the chosen bloggers to let them know about the award.

So for my 7 personalities…

  1. I have an incredible knack for holding a great many ideas and concepts in orbit around myself and failing to plot their trajectories in a clear an observable way for anyone else. I think this is largely because i write for myself and because i am chiefly concerned with how i feel during the creative process, and how i feel upon revisiting that work.
  2. I recently had my first moment of feeling old. At 26 with three years of chronic knee pain under my belt, i’m starting to understand my elderly companions.
  3. I am terrified of cohabitation and marriage. My lover and i have discussed these very reasonable fears and have determined that they are largely fears of the unknown, and of course a reflection of my historical difficulty with long-term commitments to just about anything.
  4. Faeries flock to me and steal my shit. I’ve “lost” not 1, but 2 expensive fountain pens in the last month, the latter replacing the former. Both were lost in a similarly mysterious fashion and i hope that someone somewhere is appreciating their irreplaceable value.
  5. I embrace the struggle of learning. If i didn’t get frustrated trying to learn it, i must not have done it right.
  6. I am a hypocrite for condemning the judgments of others.
  7. I love to -(insert favorite verb here)- naked.
