The Big Idea

As per my character, i am attempting to take on a project that seems unreasonable in its proportions, which makes it perfectly proportioned to my expectations.

I want to combine the aesthetics of the American Transcendentalists, the European Renaissance, and the Chinese pursuit of the arts as medicine.

Some necessary tasks:

  1. Read some (more) Transcendental Literature
  2. Look into the lives and practices of Renaissance Men.
  3. Continue my practices of qi gong, acupuncture, and learning Chinese.

Some questions that will help initially guide me:

  • What were the major themes, ideas, and sources of inspiration for the transcendentalists?
  • What made their work “transcendental”?
  • What did it mean to be a “Renaissance Man”?
  • How did polymathy and creative self-expression mutually engender one another in Renaissance figures such as Da Vinci?
  • From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, how does creative self-expression promote harmony and longevity?
  • Which famous Chinese doctors were also artists and inventors?

Long story short, i want a venue for self-expression and reflection that is at once therapeutic for myself and engaging for others. I hope to achieve these ends.
